Weese Young House, Cedar Key FL, 2007
wpa designed this residence located of the gulf side of Florida. The open Mondrianesque pattern of lines and planes is employed as a three-dimensional grid. The fully exposed portion of the grid sets forward of the main living spaces providing an integration of space, function, structure and transparency. The design concept of vertical organization of served and service, opaque and transparent zones coordinates interior functions and site conditions. The graphic quality of the painted blue and gray grid is counterbalanced by planes of subtle grays accented by one brightly painted tower.
