This Way - Signage Design for Public Spaces, 2000

wpa, inc. designed specific environmental graphic elements to introduce and educate the visitor to the Center about the Starbuck's Coffee Company. The scope of the work consists of five distinct components which address phenomena of locating (the entry and perimeter markers), movement (the 148'-pergola leading to the employee entrance), marking (the top of the tower with the siren playfully peeking out on all sides), direction (parking garage signage), and understanding (four interpretive sculptures embodying each of the four elements of "the Alchemy of Coffee").

The work incorporates space, sculpture, iconography, and text, including an inspiring quote by Luigi Barzini, into a layered language which brings the story of the making and consuming of coffee to the site.
