WSU Campus Signage & Street Furniture, Pullman WA, 2003

The concept for the campus-wide signage system was to develop a design that integrates with the various designs and ages of the architecture found on campus. As a nod to the oldest buildings, the freestanding signs (directional signs, street signs and building identities) have the three basic elements of a traditional column - a base, shaft and capital. In order for the signage to be compatible with the contemporary buildings and to represent the time in which the signage was implemented, the three elements are interpreted in a contemporary way.

Gateway markers were designed for significant pedestrian walkways on campus. The 20' tall cast bronze columns are a contemporary interpretation of a column and its use throughout history to mark a significant area of an urban environment.

In addition to the signage, wpa designed information kiosks, bus shelters and benches.
